A Word for Bloggers.....

Quitter Never Wins

Many people fail for one most prominent reason that's they give up.If adsense isn't a smashing success in a day or two people think its not working an Quit.

This kind of thinking would never ever make you successful. You should know the people who are six figure Adsense gurus over there also struggled before they reached the stage they are in now. They worked hard to get what they have got with adsense.

Realization of what is important is very important.Experimenting with adsense is important but within Google Adsense TOS.If you have Adsense on blogs going steady is important,it should be done consistently over a period of time, not a week's work in a single day. Most of people forget that people want new, fresh and latest content.

This is the biggest mantra for the SIX-figure bloggers.Present your visitors with useful content and keep it clean.Try interactivity to websites with polls, comments and forums.

Don't build MFA (made-for-adsense) websites

The easiest way to produce good stream of traffic is to write content which is timeless content.Content which people would like to read even after 10 years from now, which has some value or information. You might feel the more pages filled with adsense code you can throw out there or even in the search engines the better the chances that you might get six-figure income. If you are a single blogger,I do not think making hell lot of websites and throwing it here and there would earn you enough cash to leave your day job,it might pay for the popcorn you eat during the movies.

The few disadvantages of making MFA's are:
  • Termination of Adsense account.Google decided to rip down MFA's and there is also some element of fear that they might terminate those accounts which use MFA's only and have no genuine or useful content to provide the visitor.
  • You would not be able to able to achieve high search search engine rankings with those websites as they have not been worked upon considering SEO and no back links pointing at them, even if you inter linked those websites Google would give them much weightage because those would not be from different IP's and so Google is less considered about them.
  • Adsense would not pay you as much as they would pay for the same keyword to the other counterpart because they provide websites that are placed better in the search engines better high paying ads.
  • If you are making junk blogs with Blogger then you risk losing them all because they have been very quick in taking down weblogs with any value.

'Alternate Ads' in "Google Adsense"

What are 'Alternate Ads?'

Alternate ads allow you to utilize your ad space in the event that Google is unable to serve targeted ads to your page. By default Google serves PSA's (Public Service Ads) which are free ads and you would not receive revenue from them, although their impressions and clicks are counted by Google.

There are three options available in the account which are :

  • Show PSA (public service ads)
  • Fill background with solid Colour
  • Show ads from another URl which are also known as 'Alternate Ads'.Alternate ads, if specified, will be shown when there are no targeted ads available for your page. The ad space will not be branded as 'Ads by Google'.Those ads can be from another advertising company also and Google does not keep an account of those ads.

Little things make big blogs.......

Have you ever heard the saying that little foxes the grapes? There are few little things that can make your blog from good to better, better to best. While content and layout would always be the key factors that rule the scene.

Some points that are worth noting while making a good blog are:

(a)Don't use a visible stat counter.Expect you want to show off how good or popular your blog is you should keep the stats of your website for your personal use only.A BIG number at the bottom of the website tries to show you are still living in the fantasy world.

(b)Make sure your blog content prints well. There are people who would like to print the good posts from your blogs. So providing an option for visitors to print your posts would not be such a bad idea. You may want to make a printable version of your website for such users.

(c)Make your website 'scannable'.The majority of the web surfers do a quick scan of your to find out that your blog is worth their precious time. This means that you should emphasize (through use of bold, coloured, underlined text, and appropriate heading) the key notes of your website.

(d)Avoid using large header graphics that steal the top fold of your website.Always try to present the visitor with most content possible at first glance. If the visitor sees a flashy banner,he might not be interested to scroll down and see other contents of your blog. The more you present the better the chances of visitor picking up something on your website and spending time there.

Google guidelines for submitting webpages

More often than not people used automated softwares to submit their websites or blogs to Search Engines like Google.Even if we do submit our websites manually,we sometimes,do forget to read the guidelines which should be followed before submitting our websites to them.

Here are a list of few of the more important guidelines laid out by Google which should be checked before submitting to them.

  1. Make your website for people rather than search engines. It should be aimed at providing useful content to the users rather than aiming at the top search engine position for a keyword.
  2. "Cloaking" is prohibited by Google.Cloaking presents a different websites to the search engines which is targeted at improving the ranking of the websites and different websites to users.
  3. Participation of users in link exchange schemes which are designed to improve the page rank and the rankings are not encouraged.
  4. The last but the most important which most of the webmaster's ignore is :"Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google."

Over Optimization Risk

Many webmasters overlook an important part of search engine optimization: if you over-optimize your web pages, chances are that your website rankings might drop because your site has been designed for search engines and not for web surfers.

* Linking to banned sites - Run a test on all outbound links from your site to see if you are linking to any sites which have themselves been Google banned. These will be sites which are Google de-listed and show Page Rank 0 with a greyed out Toolbar Page Rank indicator.

* Hidden text or links - Remove any hidden text in your content and remove any hidden keywords. Such content may be hidden from view using CSS or alternatively, text may have been coded to be the same colour as the page background, rendering it invisible. These risky SEO techniques often lead to a Google penalty or web site ban.

* Over keyword stuffing - Remove excessive keyword stuffing in your website content (unnatural repetitions of the same phrase in body text).

* Linking to bad neighbourhoods - Check you are not linking to any bad neighbourhoods , link farms or doorway pages. Bad neighbourhoods include spam sites and, whilst link farms are just pages of links to other sites, with no original or useful content.

Adsense Ads with curves.....looks good

The world is changing and so are Google Adsense ads.Google have introduced new ads formats with stunning curves which has pleased many adsense advertisers and also visitors. This variation in ad-formats has broken adsense's long history of edged shaped ads.

The new ad formats are :-

  • Square
  • Slightly rounded
  • Very rounded

This new option not only improves the looks or blends with the website more beautifully but also gives adsense publishers to increase their revenue with Google Adsense.Google Adsense team now are looking more focused towards increasing the users experience by given the options of better looking ads formats and also maximizing revenue and user's satisfaction.Adsense publishers would have appreciated this step taken by the Google team and I would like to appreciate their effort of trying to improve Adsense in every way possible.

Backlinks from Different IP's more important....

Back links from different IP's are given much importance than back links from same IP,Google considers them much more important.Google introduced this into their algorithm to prevent users from creating blogs or sub-domains giving back links to their primary website,so that they rank well in the search engines.

Importance of Back links:

  • Back links get your sites indexed in the search engines, more the number of back links, lesser will be the time taken for the indexing.
  • Secondly, they will help you rank well in the search engines, also if they contain anchor text which you are targeting.
The methods to get back links are either you pay the website owners to give a link back to your websites. When you pay the webmasters to link back to your website then you dont have to give them back links. If you are considering the option of link swapping then you will have to link back to his website and in return he would link back to your's.

SEO vs PPC

SEO or PPC? which one is better?

Pay per click advertising (PPC)

Advantages:

  • You get instant results. Advertising on website results in instant targeted traffic .
  • PPC ads are better for limited time period .
  • You can stop PPC ads at any time.
  • PPC ads make it easy to test different keywords and landing pages.
  • PPC ads also work with websites that are not very well designed and wouldn't get good search engine rankings.
  • PPC ads allow you to bid on a large amount of keywords, including misspellings and other keyword variations that you cannot put on your web pages.

Disadvantages:

  • PPC advertising can become very expensive if you bid on the wrong keywords or if you don't calculate the maximum bid price correctly.
  • Invalid clicks can be a problem which can result in inflation of advertising expenditure.

Search engine optimization (SEO):

Advantages:

  • Traffic through organic search engine results is almost free if the up-front work has been done.
  • After optimizing your website you can use your money for different things and the optimized site will still run.
  • A larger number of visitors and search result clickers is not a problem.
  • Search engine optimization delivers long term results that don't require permanent financial input.

Disadvantages:

  • SEO can be relatively time-consuming up-front.
  • SEO can require a redesign of your web pages to make your website search engine friendly. However, this usually also results in a better user experience.

Search engine optimization delivers large amount of targetted traffic without spending cash which can be considerably more as compared to traffic from PPC.
